BLUE BUG ENTERTAINMENT was created in 1995 by Jean Aubert to offer high standard CG Animation and Visual Effects services for Films and TV Series. Focused on high quality, our unique expertise combined with proven production strategies and ability to develop powerful production tools and very efficient pipeline benefits from Jean Aubert’s strong expertise in over 30 years of experience in CG production.

Blue Bug Entertainment creates and develops original content for CG Animated Feature Films, with high potential of building brands. We team up with the best professionals in the industry, with proven track records and indisputable talent as well with partners from all over the world in other to develop and produce world-class animated feature films. Jean Aubert and his collaborators have cumulated a strong experience in the production of more than a dozen 3D-CG Animated Feature Films and thousands of minutes of animation.

Jean Aubert

Jean is the founding president of Blue Bug Entertainment, he is a seasoned producer and production manager specialized in CG animation. Throughout his career, he produced visual effects for American movies and several documentary series, oversaw the production of animated films and series, video games cinematic and many TV shows. Over the years, Jean has produced hundreds of minutes of animation and visual effects, cumulating more than 30 years of experience in CG production.

Trained in graphic design at the Old-Montreal College and in design at the University of Quebec in Montreal, he also has professional training in international coproduction with the National Institute of Image and Sound (INIS), in PMP at the Project Management Institute and in film and television production management at the HEC Montreal.

Starting an early career in the mid 80s as a computer artist, Jean is considered by his peers as one of the Montreal pioneers in computer graphics, he was honoured to be nominated at the 2004 EMMY AWARDS in the category of News and Documentary and received a double nomination at the 1998 Gemini Awards Gala, not to mention a second prize at IMAGES DU FUTUR in 1987 as well as many other prizes.

Jean is the main producer of the animated film “TROLL - the tale of a tail” and was one of the producers on the animated film “LEAP” (Ballerina) released in 2016. Over the years, Jean worked on many prestigious projects; he was VFX Producer on the Documentary Series “Extreme Engineering” for Discovery Channel International, production manager for the animated film « The Story of Abraham » as well as doing a remedial recovery on many productions like “PODCATS” a CG-animated TV series for France.

In 2014, Jean was senior producer and studio manager at UBISOFT/Cinematic Studio. During his mandate; Jean produced game cinematic and movie trailers for Prince of Persia: The Warrior Within & The Two Thrones, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Rainbow Six: Lockdown and And1: Street ball. From 1993 up to 2002, Jean has produced several 2D/3D cinematic for documentary series such as “Anima” and “Oppression” aired on Télé-Québec, the visual effects of the soap opera “La part des Anges” aired on Radio-Canada, and a 2D/3D animated series “Dragon Wings” for FR3 (France). For nearly a decade, the studio has served prestigious clients such as Bombardier, Pfizer, Bristol Myers, Pratt & Whitney Canada, National Film Board of Canada, Johnson & Johnson, Bell Canada, Hydro-Quebec, etc.

Today, Jean and his team creates and produces CG animation projects focused on high quality with proven production strategies that save time and money. He engages the imagination of his partners to create projects with high commercial value, in developing and producing animated films supported by the most creative and experienced individuals in the industry.

Jean is a membre of the VFX Society, The Quebec Film and Television Council (QFTC) and Alliance Quebec Animation (AQA).

Over the years, he has been working on both artistic and technical aspects in many companies like Softimage, Moment Factory and Walt Disney Feature Animation in L.A., along with several other studios in Montreal and Toronto. Eric is recognized in the 3D animation world as a visionary visual effects supervisor and a technical director.  Eric has worked on many Disney’s prestigious Animated Feature Films like Dinosaur, Tarzan, Treasure Planet and The Emperor’s New Groove. He also worked on Gnomeo and Juliette and most of the Animated Films recently produced locally in Montreal such as Leap, Snow Time, The Legend of Sarila and is latest production TROLL – The tale of a tail.

He is also a renowned specialist in designing environments specifically to improve production and quality control.  Manager of the Technical Laboratory at Autodesk Montreal (formally Discreet Logic) for more than 11 years, Benoit has supervised the technical needs at Supersuite Post Production Facilities for over 8 years. With a huge background that started in the mid 80’s at CBC in Toronto and Astral / Bellevue Pathé, Benoit is one of the most respected IT specialists in Quebec

Among her many accomplishments, she has worked on Snowtime, Quantico, as well as several commercials and video games. She is now part of the nGenious Studio team as the Head of Production on the the long-awaited movie "TROLL: The Tale of a Tail".  Nadja is an ambitious woman who always give her best on the projects she is working on. Her ambitions and boundless energy keep the production rolling, we can not do without her!

JIM VAN DER KEYL - Animation Supervisor  Jim has been in the animation industry since 1989 getting his start on the Little Mermaid at Disney. he have since worked his way up to animator supervisor, working in studios such as Baer Animation, Rich Animation, Warner Brothers, Sony Imageworks, DreamWorks Animation, Blue Sky and with Catmandu in Buenos Aires (Argentina). While at Warner Brothers he was nominated for a Best Animator Annie Award for his work on Iron Giant with Brad Bird (director of Incredibles and Ratatouille). he made the transition to CG animation early on during Osmosis Jones from WB. His first full-featured CG animation projects came when working on Stuart Little 2 for Sony Imageworks and he have been doing CG ever since. Past projects include Shark Tale, Over the Hedge, Monsters vs. Aliens, Kung Fu Panda, Flushed Away, Kung Fu Panda 2 and Puss N Boots.  Jim supervised two feature films at Singing Frog Studio in Montreal (Canada); the Quebec super successful feature film “La Guerre des Tuques” (Snowtime) and La Course des Tuques (Snowtime 2) the sequel. Jim also spent a year animating at Framestore on Beauty and the Beast for Disney mega successful remake of the original.

His clients operate mainly in the mining, retail and services industries. He also assists doctors in their incorporation.  Mr. Roy completed his Bachelor in Business Administration (B.A.A.) from HEC Montréal in 1996 and became a chartered accountant in 1999. He began his accounting career as an intern at Petrie Raymond and was named Partner in 2006. Alexandre Roy is a member of the Québec Order of Chartered Professional Accountants.
